Ng Khian Ee (Kenny)
Age: 48
Businessman with engineering background turned farmer since year 2007.
“Why did you become an organic farmer?” many people have asked. It started with the thought of changing my career and lifestyle a few years back; and organic farming was one of the few options for me to consider. It was later in the year 2005, after I had volunteered in a CETDEM organised ‘Organic Watch- exhibition/seminar’ that I decided I wanted to become an organic farmer. I thought it was a noble thing to do, a healthy lifestyle as well as contributing to a greener world. And lucky I was, to have my wife supporting the idea and sharing the same vision. My wife and I are pretty much influenced by Dr Lai Chiu-Nan, the founder of Lapis Lazuli Light. We have been following her talks and publications; and learned to consume organic produce and live a healthy lifestyle.
About the same time, I began learning Buddhism from Master Chin Kung; and realised that I could not follow the ‘5 Precepts’ and the ‘Ten Virtuous Conducts’ with my sales career. I wanted to change and organic farming suits me well.
Now I am happy and enjoying myself with nature as well as sharing my little organic knowledge with visitors. I strongly believe that I have made the right decision for the betterment of myself, my family and planet earth.
